[Extra Heat]Woke Up Today.

and it was cold! We've been having 90 degree F weather here for the last two weeks, so our thermostat has been kept really low, and windows have been open. A rainstorm blew in, and cooled down the entire valley as well as kept drizzling all morning long. Our apt was down to about 55 degrees, and Dudes cage was at 64 degrees! (He's a Chinese Water Dragon). Luckily I always keep a spare Ceramic Heat emitter in place, plugged in, but just off, first thing I did was hit that, close up the closet he lives in, and let him warm up.

I just posted this, as an example of why it's important to have back ups, for people who don't live in places with steady climates. I live in Montana, and as evidenced it can go from hot and warm.. to very cold over night. Places like Phoenix may not have that problem (at least it never did when I lived down there!)

An even better idea is that since you always have that Ceramic Heat Emitter plugged in, why not toss it on a thermostat? That way if the temp drops below a certain point it will automatically turn on.

I feel your pain.
In Oklahoma there's an old saying,..."Don't like the weather? Wait a few minutes and it will change!".
We can be in the 80's one day and snow the next!
A good practice is to have your heater hooked up, but on a thermostat, set to go on at a certain temperature. That way if the weather is screwy and you happen to be away your bases are covered!

Exactly !!!!! I live in Virginia Beach, heat on 1 day.....A/C the next. And back again. I could not imagine regulating my temps without a thermostat.

It's why I spent the dough on temp and humidity controllers as well as exhaust fans on a controller. I don't have to care about the weather, the enclosure will always be right where it should be. Then again, I live in Wisconsin where yearly temps range from -20* to 100*, so, yeah. Kinda have to.
