Ceramic Heat Emitter?
What wattage Ceramic Heat Emitter do you think would be best for my setup for red tailed boa. Its going to be in a 55 gal. tank that I have divided while the boa is young. I was thinking either 100w or 75w. I also have a Zoo med Under Tank Heater on the warm side. Thanks.

Re: Ceramic Heat Emitter?
You are going to have to play with that to get the desired temps. We can't tell you what wattage as we would be guessing. Your best bet would be to go low, keep the receipt, and return it for an exchange of a higher wattage if it doesn't reach the proper temps.
The temps in the enclosure will be depictive of your house temps, ventilation, etc. |

Re: Ceramic Heat Emitter?
I too am looking at a similar type heating element for this Complex and Overbudget Habitat Design, You Decide project.
Now you say room temp, Ventilation as variables. Would this also include lighting, moisture content or humidity levels as well? And would this have to be a constant heat element or to mimic reality could it, or should it be controlled in a manner of as nite falls so would the temperature in the habitat as well? I ask cause im thinking of modding a digital thermostat to control this feature in my project. yea I know, thats why my project thread was labeled as it is... lolz |

Re: Ceramic Heat Emitter?
And just to reiterate... My thoughts are to use a heating element to which would be placed under ceramic tile that keeps the floor warm. More like a radiated heat source. but using the heat source tapered on/off peak time of say 10hrs @ even $ .10 of a KWH. would be less than $.08 Cents a day or $2.40 cents a month in cost to use.
My only concerns at that point would be radiated EMF signals from an electronic standpoint, as it is an electrical interference. |
