You can get thermostats thru on line sellers much cheaper, by about half, than the ones in the shops. I paid 30 dollars for a ZooMed 500 watt. I don't know if they ship to SA or not.
The thermometers that we use here you can pic up for about 12 dollars and they have a remote probe that you put in the tank so the read out gauge is outside. And the batteries last a long time!

or at least get a non-digital one. They aren't as accurate but give a good idea.

I will have a look at the zoomed as all my lighting is manufactured by zoomed
So I am sure I will find one. Thanks for the advice
One last thing though would I connect the Thermostat to the Basking light??

You can as long as the UVB light is staying on. The thermostat will turn the light on and off as needed.

Ok I was planning on using a central heating system when I built a bigger Enclosure and I would have connected that to the Thermostat.
But I will connect the basking lamp for now.

I have been trying to find an online seller but the ones I find want a fortune for the thermostats.
