Wood enclosures and heat mats

Hello everyone!

I just got a new leopard gecko and I am planning on building him an enclosure today. My question is how would I go about using a Under Tank Heater with that sort of enclosure? The material I have for the main body of the enclosure is 3/4" birch plywood. Obviously it will not transfer heat as well as a glass enclosure so how to solve this problem? Anyone have any thoughts?

Thanks alot, will post when I am finished.

Chris

You could stick the Under Tank Heater to the bottom of a ceramic tile and see how that works out.

^ dont do that, it will get far to hot....Just lay it in there, or tape it to the underneath. Wait 3/4 what the heck, use a 1/2 or smaller.....

You could router out a lip for a piece of glass. Cut a square hole 12x12, then router a lip so you can glue the glass in place. The lip id say about 1/4 inch or more if you want it secure. It would be flush with the rest of the floor. A glass place wont charge but a few bucks for it.
