See thats the same issue I have,, it is not weight,, its where things are hanging and the muscle tone seems to be going away,, life and four kids have sure not helped.

I need to do both. I used to run so much, so my abs were nice and tight and I had fabulous legs and a nice butt. Now I'm all flabby.

Yeah, I get winded running for the phone, upper body i've got plenty of muscle...I can't wait for the snow to melt so I can ride my bike 3 miles to work and 5 home (it's kind of a loop) My poor legs have been greatly neglected...who has time to join a gym?!

Re: anyone interested in a HCN get fit challenge?
Gyms aren't so bad. I go (when I can make myself ) in the mornings before work. That way I have energy most of the day. Mine also has a pool, so when I wash out my swim gear, that's a real bonus. I can go early and swim for two hours at a time. I love water. Not so much any other workouts, though I do them. My asthma is, unfortunately, exercise induced (among other things), so I have to be careful. Running on a treadmill is just something I can't do.
Most of my problem is that my metabolism is extremely slow, so twenty minutes every morning actually really helps me. It's just a matter of getting up and doing it.

Re: anyone interested in a HCN get fit challenge?
I do miss my old gym. I realized the only thing I was doing there was running on the treadmill and working on the ab ball (for the most part). The pool was always so packed, and they always had swim classes for kids, that I never really wanted to be in it.
So I went out and bought a really nice treadmill. Spent what I would spend on my gym membership for 2 years. I'm still paying it off, but its free financing and I really do use it. Plus I"m not losing 30 minutes of my day driving to the gym and back.
AND I get to pick the channel on TV I want to watch.

Yeah, we signed up for the gym and then realized we'd never have time to use it. We canceled 3 days later and decided to stick with the Rock gym and just trying to be active outside...I don't forsee myself going for a jog today though, it's 7 degrees outside!

Re: anyone interested in a HCN get fit challenge?
Climbing is awsome for toning up, The local(ish) climbing gym I climb at (wish I climbed at more) even has a side room with treadmills, and weight machine's. I have actualy never gone into it though, usualy I just climb till I can't close my hands anymore. wish the rock gym was closer, i'd get a membership.
