Big Surprise and some questions

No, a HUGE surprise. I've been taking care of my brother's two Bearded Dragons since his house burned down in November. Well, Spike (his 18 month old male) started acting strange. He pretty much stopped eating and just wanted OUT of his enclosure... digging almost constantly. After about 4 days of this, I start thinking about how odd his behavior is and how it seems more like the behavior of a gravid female. Which of course is totally silly because Spike's a male.

Saturday morning I went to feed both Bearded Dragons, and this is what I found...

So now I know that Spike's a GIRL, not a boy!!!

Obviously, we're very lucky that she didn't have problems with those eggs because they don't appear to have properly formed shells. Is that normal for non-fertile eggs? I'm thinking I'll need to supplement her with additional calcium, but how much how often?

Wow Steph, that is a big shocker, lol...It is totally normal for them to lay infertile eggs, no worries there.. You will need to fatten her back up with more protein and added calcium and vits...Good luck with Spikette and keep us posted.

Your brother is going to have a very big surprise! =)

As for supplementation, I don't know what are you doing but if you are dusting 2 or 3 times a week, better start doing it every day at least until she gets all her normal weight back.
