Experienced "coccidia" Treaters?

I have been treating both my Bearded Dragons with Albon for the past 9 days. They are to have it for 14, then re-test their stool. Spike was quite sick, I posted about him not eating a month or so ago and Sniper is being treated as they were in the same enclosure at one time. Sniper seems perfectly healthy.

What I am wondering is how long I can expect it to take for Spike to come around? I'm worried that he is getting used to the force-feeds and will not go back to crickets He has perked up considerablly since treating him, but when I put a few crickets in this enclosure he will just watch them cruise by and not try to go after them. Or maybe I should worry that there is a bigger problem that has caused him to react so badly to the parasites. The vet mentioned an Adeno virus that they can get. Any experieced sick Bearded Dragon therapists advice would be great!

I would definitely advise that you buy some nutri-bac to treat them with after the albon is gone to help rebuild the good gut flora.

Re: Experienced "coccidia" Treaters?

Where can I get nutri-bac? The vet also gave me something called Metronidazole to give to Spike. I thought she said something about him having too much of the normally healthy flora? Thanks for the reply!

I suspect that there may have been a miscommunication.
What was probably meant was that there are many organisms that normally live inside all living creatures (us included) that cause no harm in small numbers and may actually contribute to the animal's well being. When some stress factor lowers the animal's resistance and allows these organisms to get out of balance and grow to excessive numbers,....thats when it turns into a problem

You can get nutribac or benebac(which is for birds) at the chain petstores.

Ok, yeah, I think I understand about the normal organisms. Thank-you! Any advice on when he might perk up? I'm starting to worry that since his treatment will be done in 4 days, it might be the adeno virus deal and not just the coccidia
