Update on My Fasting Beardie, Spike

Well, after waiting 2 weeks to get in to the vet I finally have medication to treat my bearded dragon who has not been eating. I have been syringe feeding him baby food and supplements for a month now. He has coccidia (I probably mutilated that spelling!) so I am treating the tank and his buddy Sniper.

Question: Is there any way for me to save the driftwood I have in Snipers cage? Could I boil it or soak it in vinegar? It is a really cool piece but I will throw it if I have to.

He also has too much of the normally helpful flora (something like floridia?) so she has to get a special dose of the medication to treat that from a pharmacy in a neighboring town. I was lucky that we have a vet in town who is familiar with Bearded Dragons! She said they are her favorite lizard and seems quite knowlegable about them. She was surprised and happy that I was going to so much trouble feeding him, stating that "most people will just let them starve.

Thanks for your help here! I'll update again if need be!

you could soak it in a 10 parts water, one part bleach solution for 24 hours, and then soak in plain water for 24 hours, drain, 24 more hours with another batch of fresh water. let dry for at least a week.

Thanks for the reply! I will give that a try. If it doesn't work out at least I have an excuse to buy all new "furniture"
