HELP! Very concerned!

A piece of my dragons shed came off today and his skin seems very discolored. He is very healthy and it does not look like anything except a skin coloration. There still looks like there is a little more skin ready to shed in the area. Why would it do this?? it looks worse in the pictures than it actually does in person.

Re: HELP! Very concerned!

Did he have a complete shed last time? Could this be left over from the last shed. It does look pretty bad, is there any flesh showing or is it all new scales? Can you get a better picture. The spot is very dark so its hard to tell. I do see he is still working on his head

Re: HELP! Very concerned!

He seemed to be just shedding in that spot for about 2 weeks and I just noticed the change today. The white part looks like white scales..not flesh. It looks like very healthy skin just discolored. Do you think his color will come back? Here is another close up pic. I hope it helps.

Re: HELP! Very concerned!

It almost looks like burnt skin that is healing. Has he come in contact with a hot lamp. This happen to mine once when a friend was caring for my male while I was out of town. I would definitely keep an eye on it and if it doesnt improve or get back to normal coloration. Might need to have a vet to take a look at it.

Re: HELP! Very concerned!

That makes sense but there is absoultly no way that he could get to his light with a screen lid. The hottest point of his basking stick is 105 degrees. Very strange...i will keep an eye on it. Thanks for your help.

Re: HELP! Very concerned!

I agree with Marsha, my first impression was that it was a burn or a wound of some sort.

Re: HELP! Very concerned!

This is just a shot in the dark- but has your Bearded Dragon been on any antibiotics lately?
There is a "yellow fungus" that can be caused by antibiotic usage and it is very serious in Bearded Dragons

Either way-burn or fungus-I would have a vet look at it
