unstructured diet schedule
My littlest Dragon, for the last week, has been fedding very oddly. Some days she will eat nothing, others she will eat ravenously. I've tried to warm soak, which sometimes works to get her to defecate. Beiing relatively new to me I dont think its a case of impaction. And I am aware that lizards will sometimes take a break from eating...
All my conditions are fine.... Basking @ ~105 (but they hang out in the 100 range) Ambient no more than mid 80's. I mist daily, if they dont soak, feed plenty of greens (available all day to them) Feed crix once a day for ten minutes. Mealies maybe one or two a day. PLenty of UV I'm at a loss, wishful thinking says that she is just going through her modeling phase (you know eat very little). And she is about 5 months old, so I doubt that she is trying to brumate yet. Any ideas? |

How old is she? Mealies are usually only given as a treat. They shouldnt be fed daily due to the hard exoskeleton and its harder for them to digest. Depending on her age, she could be brumating.

She is about 5 months old....and the mealies I actually started feeding after she started her fasting in hopes of getting her to eat. The mealies I feed them are the smallest ones, so lighter exoskeletons and like I said one or two, but I plan on doing it once a week. I just wanted to get them hooked on them first.

You can also try some wax worms, butters or silkies to see if they will eat for you.

She doesnt seem to defecate as much as the other two either. For instance yesterday and this morning I dont think she did. Actually yesterday in the soak she did, but this morning in the soak she didnt.I should know more throughout the weekend, I've got to keep an eye on her.

You can also bump up the temps a bit more. If you think she is impacted, when your soaking her,,,rub her belly from sternum to vent, sometimes this helps loosen it up.

Its funny sometimes she will defecate others she wont. I'm almost afraid to massage her, she is so small. I may try to bump temps up a bit, it'd be easy just need to change the angle of the largest driftwood piece, it would take it up to about 115. But I noticed when I first set it up, thye didnt like to bask at such a high temp. I should have more info over the next few days. And I'll definately try the massage. (shes the most anxious one, doesnt like the bath too much)
