Rich when I get the flack from people here (where they have seen the article in the Times Herald) when I bring in the dragons for the Hole unit, I can at least show them your response with the facts.

UPDATE
In yesterdays paper they have the question of the day on the editorial page: Should Reptiles be kept in the classroom? Three out of the four who were ask this question thought it was a great opportunity for children to learn about reptiles. The one apposed thought that students should take field trips to aquariums to see reptiles. So much for being informed!!!

Originally it was with the idea that animals needed, with just cause, to be protected from inhumane treatment. They served a good purpose. Now the organization has mutated into an uncontrolled political activist group who have taken it upon themselves to attempt to outlaw the keeping of exotic pets... ANY exotic pets.
They chose to blatantly ignore the fact that far more people are injured or killed by the mainstream domestic animals like dogs, cats, and horses, than by all the exotics wrapped up into one! Why are they going after exotic keepers rather than the mainstream pet owners? Numbers. There are far too many of the warm fuzzy owners for them to even think of tackling THEM.
However our numbers are growing! And they don't like it!
