BDs Fighting
Today Smudge and Tolkein had a right set too, she has hurt is tail, it bled only a little, thank goodness its not a bad cut, I have bathed it with warm water.
They have got on together for the past two weeks, and now this, is it wise to place Tolkein back in with Summer for now, or on his own, or will they calm down, and this be a one off incident? I sure hope so.

Awww poor babie. I would put him back into his own enclosure for now. He is probably stressed, give them a couple days and try again.

The only thing about putting Tolkien back with Summer is the effect it will have on her. I'm not so sure about putting him back,.
They should settle Donna,. a group must be allowed to establish dominance, and even though usually males are the more dominant of the bunch, females can sometimes take that role. It is likely that Tolkien was trying it on and Smudge was declining his advances. Often in mating attempts the male will hurt the female by biting her too hard, but sometimes the female can cause just as much damage if she doesn't want to mate.
This is nature, but I would keep a close eye on them. The only real worry is the size difference, because Smudge is so much bigger than Tolkien she may be capable of harming him more than she means to when turning him down.
Bathing the wound is good, and we usually use some tamodine on the cut to prevent infection. It is likely that more than Tolkien's tail is hurt - his male pride will be quite dented too Give him lots of cuddles and consider whether putting him back with Summer would cause her too much stress, or whether Tolkien can be kept with the other girls.
(By the way, do you want a 4ft glass tank?)

Yeah I was a bit worried myself about him going back in with Summer, they are all back in the tank and I am hoping they forget about the fight, kept them all apart for a few hours, and it hasnt took him long to start again, but with Smidge this time, he was realy wound up, getting angry with me, but after a few cuddles he calmed down.

Good, glad they all seem ok. Keep a close eye on them, but i'm sure that Smudge was just showing Tolkien who's boss!
