Yes that is the advice. Have any questions? I have leopard geckos and a Bearded Dragon. Bearded Dragons make great pets. Read through the caresheet and let us know if you have anything you want to know about....Lyn

Bearded Dragons are good pets and also alot work, they need special lights they eat crickets veggies and need adequate space. Where as a leopard geckos requires less. As Lyn suggest check out the caresheets for both before deciding which to buy.

Let me just had that Leopard Geckos are nocturnal. So for some they are the best pets because they are wake doing their thing when you are at home and for other they are not because they sleep all day.
Choose wisely =)

I have never kept leopard geckos but I do have 2 bearded dragons. They are friendly and personable animals. I enthusiastically put them forth as a great first lizard. They are active in the daytime and don't have the problem many other lizards do of running like crazy from you the minute that you put them down. I am not altogether sure our Bearded Dragons don't think WE are THEIR pets!

I'd say the easiest lizard to keep by far is the leopard gecko, it is also very cheap and doesn't take much maintanence. Bearded dragons are more expensive, but get bigger and seem to have more personality. Bearded Dragons can eventually get the the point where they will sit on ur lap or shoulder for hours and "watch" TV or whatever. It's soo cute. Leopard Geckos are also very interesting and can get quite used to handling but the big problem is the size. If you want to have something that you can take out and play with and not worry about it getting lost, get a beardy. If you just want to have a cheap, easy, and something you can handle, get a leo.

I currently own 3 bearded dragons 2 rescues and one PErmenant and they are a great beginner lizard! The downsides to this lizard is that they require ATLEAST a 40 gal breeder tank, uva and uvb lighting, semi high-semi high basking temps, small-large amount of crickets or other feeders depedning on size and age, a semi large- LARGE variety of veggies/greens ect..., possibly pellets added in the mix...

Otherwise these lizards are easy to take care of, usually make themselves seem like they like you, good eaters, very pretty, have very interesting social behaviours with you and other dragons, are a good reptile to breed, fun, and are pretty cute!

I also own 5 Leopard Geckos.
Rule of thumb- 10 gallons per leo, no males housed together unless only fo a short while during a very younge age or fighting and maybey even death could occur. This happens with beardeds aswell...
Leopard Geckos, Under Tank Heater's work great and are low wattage which means your electricity bill won't be racked up as much if you were to use a higher wattage bulb. Bulbs still work just as good if not better.
No high humidity requirements.
BAsicly all you need for a leo's enclosure is a 10 gallon tank, a humid hide, a dry cool hide, and a water dish. Small lids of calcium and dishes of meal worms are a choice. Some people choose to put humid hides inside the enclosure only during a gecko's shed, this is fine, make sure it;s on the warm side.
Feed: Eats so many things. Mealworms, superworms, silkworms, crickets, locusts, grasshoppers, pupaes, darkling beetles ect... The list goes on and on.

Leopard Geckos tend to be very lazy and not do that much. Their social features are licking things, shaking their tails at crickets, and trying to get to you through the glass tank.

In conclusion, a leopard gecko would most likely be less expensive, but I myself prefer to spend a little more for more happiness, A bearded dragon. Nevertheless, you may find a leo more interesting than a bearded dragon. We all have our own thoughts...

Do you have these two mixed up? Some beardeds, especially mine will take off at super quick speeds if I let them sit down outside. I spent an hour and a half getting him out form under my porch... Also he hid in my closet and fell asleep in a big toy car... Took awhile to get him out of it. Leopard Geckos are alot slower and aren't usually reptiles that you would lose inside or outside if you kept an eye on them.
