Lost my bearded dragon

I just lost one of my two bearded dragons, and my female (the male passed away today) seems very upset . any ideas on how I can keep her spirits up. I had a male and a female and bought them both at the same time, they have never been separated in the last 7 years until now. any suggestions

Oh wow I'm so so sorry to hear of your sad loss - 7 years is a long time to become attached to a much loved pet.

Your female will feel the loss, although they are solitary animals in the wild after living with a companion for so long she will sense that he has gone. Only time will heal .. I saw this with some of our corn snakes when they were younger - a pair were kept together and when one passed away the other searched and searched for a few days

Give her extra time and attention and lots of cuddles, feed her favourite treats and she will be ok. In time maybe you might think about getting another dragon to keep her company.

Sorry again

I'm so sorry to hear of your loss. Spoil the little girl and she'll be O.K.

I'm sorry to hear this. Its too hard to lose a pet, especially one you have had that long.
As everyone said just baby your other Bearded Dragon (which I am sure you are) and she will be fine.

Do you have any idea what happened?

Thats terrible. I am so sorry for your loss. Time heals and that what she needs. Give her TLC, then as Rach said, maybe get her a friend.

The love all of these people have for their pets is something that should be cherished more than gold and jewels. This may sound a little strange but spend a lot of time talking to her. Even though there is a species barrier, i have faith that she will understand what you are trying to explain to her about the loss of her beloved mate. It takes time, but with an unlimited number of hugs and cuddles and love, she'll come around, and you will too. Just seeing those little eyes and that spiny beard makes me feel all warm and fuzzy on the inside. Time heals all things, just have faith and let time do it's work.

Happy easter,

Adam, what lovely things to say - and you are right. Speak to your Bearded Dragon and show her how much you love her,. it will make you feel better and her too I'm sure. Hugs and love can do the world of good.
