We have three hypo-red tiger stripes, one orange sandfire, one red sandfire and a very pretty normal. They are all stunning, but my faves are the red phases. Colour phases come with a higher price though.. the real stunners are the ones like the citrus and other unusual beauties, but they come with a real hefty price tag!

I am personally partial to the red/orange varieties. I also like the citrus.

I really like the citrus one! Now for the big question, how much money does a Bearded Dragon cost? From a normal to fancy colored? I am not holding anyone to an exact amount, but a price range would be nice. I an kind of thinking that a male would be easier to care for since they don't do the egg thing but how do you tell buy from girl? Venus, if it's not against the rules how much would you sell a citrus male for? and how often do you get a new batch/crop/hatching?

Clyde, take a lot at one of my threads called "how much do they cost in your city/country". You can have an idea of the prices according to locations. Those are "regular" color prices.
If you buy as babies, you most likely won't know the gender until they reach the age where you can visually make a distinction. Unless you buy them from a breeder that is hatching the eggs for male or female.
To answer your initial question and even though you said that you are "more interested in a pet but cool colors would be nice", here's some advice from someone that really don't care about looks, "brands" or anything like that.
Don't buy a "picture", don't buy a "name" and don't shop from a catalog. Buy an animal you can see with your own eyes and interact. Look for a dragon that entices you, no matter color, pattern, number of extra legs/missing legs, etc. If you feel a bond with any particular animal, go for that. Most times friendship comes in the most unusual packages =)

Actually rbl, with a little practice it is quite easy to sex a young dragon - males are much easier to define than females.. to sex you should hold the dragon on your hand, belly down, and gently lift the tail up, pressing carefully down on the top of the base of the tail. Underneath, after the vent (on the tail side) you should either see two small bumps with a dip in the middle (male) or one small bumb in the middle, or just a flat surface, indicating females. Males are easier to sex, females can sometimes appear to be female but can turn out to be underdeveloped males.. we never sell ours as guaranteed, but try to sex them and sell as sexed. If we are not sure we will sell as unsexed. A breeder will often be able to tell the sex for you, and you will find it easier to get hold of a male, as they are less sought after and often less expensive.
Also, rbl, there is no factual evidence that Bearded Dragons can be incubated for sex, as with leopard geckos, and if anyone tells you that they have incubated for female and are selling all the babies as female it is highly likely that they are making it up in order to make a quick sale.
Hyde, a colour phase will cost you quite a bit more than a normal, but I don't really want to suggest prices, as it will be different over here in the UK than over there.

Britis Gabonica, are you planning to make any trips to the Western North Carolina area any time soon! I can sex a baby kitten but have had no practice on dragons.
