You can get a bearded dragon from 40.00 and way up. just remember if you get one local there is not shipping. If you get one off the net shipping is around 30-40.00.i have a couple babies left and when they are ready i'll let you know, you just have to think about the shipping.

there is no factual evidence that beardies can be incubated for sex, as with leopard geckos, and if anyone tells you that they have incubated for female and are selling all the babies as female it is highly likely that they are making it up in order to make a quick sale.
|
That was a new one on me as well! Never heard of any such thing with beardeds!
As stated sexing a baby Bearded Dragon is not guaranteed. Our male, Fossy, was sold to us as a female. The breeder, a very experienced breeder too, did say that he couldn't be certain but was "pretty sure" she was a female.
Then one day SURPRISE! She was a HE!
I agree with Rbl, it isn't so much a matter of sex or color its the one that catches your attention. I prefer to see my animals first hand before I purchase but if I was going to buy one over the net I'd go with one of Marsha's.

Rachel, when I mention to visually distinguish them, I was referring to that process. I know there are signs like head size and so on but they are less accurate.
But I thought that process would only work in juveniles and not on babies. I've always read that sexing a baby it's a sort of futurology =)
I've read it somewhere.. it was not presented as factual evidence but as the result of a series of successful experiences. From what I can recall, i was on a forum and not on a breeder shop page.
Would like to share the links but my HD seems to be dead, I'm typing from another computer...

LOL I'd love to! Are you offering to pay the fair?
rbl, I have found it quite easy to sex hatchling dragons - obviously with age it becomes much easier, and mistakes can be made. Joe and I, and I believe Marsha?, would like to incubate our dragon eggs at various temps to see if it causes any effect on gender, however I predict that it won't consisently as can be done with leo geckos, otherwise I would assume that someone would have already come forward with some evidence? It would be interesting to note though.. now, we just need some Bearded Dragon eggs! Grrr why can't the dragons breed on demand?!

If I could afford it I'd be bringing them to you! You could also help me give him/she/it a proper sense of humor.
Venus, a dragon for $80 including shipping sounds good. The store (with the cute one) next door to work wants $140 for a normal and they have no information as to sex or what kind it is. After looking at your site I would be saving money getting one of your babies even taking into account for shipping, that is at the prices you show there. I want the male that is the best looking, has the best personality and if possible please also add a sense of humor. I don't want much do I? Seriously though, do you have a male baby left? Or one you think is male? Or just a really great personality? Unless I make a road trip to Texas I would be depending on your opinion. Depending one how long until they are ready to go home it might just make a good trip for us as a short vacation!
RBI, I do agree with you but the selection in my part of the world is limited. In fact I have only seen one in the last few years. I am not after a certain kind or color but if I have to select one from the web then I might as well choose the color I like the best. If I was in a room full of Bearded Dragons then I most likely would choose the one which had the best personality and to heck with the rest!

And I was complaining with the lack of choice in my home town =)
It was a suggestion. If it's not possible, you must do whatever suits you best.

Really I haven't picked any colors for sure. Venus's just happen to be a red variety. I would prefer getting one from someone here and I have been talking with her on site. Another option is the pet store next door to work and their cute but rather high priced one. It's I believe a normal color. A snow would be nice as well. I hope to have one before then though. My fondest desire would be to have them all in a room and get to choose by personality. I could also take a long weekend and go pick up my baby if I get it from Venus.

Snows are beautiful - I'd love one, but then again I'd love 'em all!
Hide, you'll often find that pet shops over-price their animals - $140 is a lot for a young normal Bearded Dragon, at least it would be over here. Seriously though, if you want a hand sexing I will talk you through it and send you photos.
Marsha does produce some gorgeous little dragons, good job she doesn't live here or she would provide some serious competition with our babies!
And Hide, you are more than welcome here any time! And we'll be happy to install some proper British humour into your little Bearded Dragon
