So everyone hates Beardies!
LOL If you guys are trying to talk me out of one you are going to have to try harder! Ok, their poo smells. Most does! Assuming you can't talk me out of one, what would I really need to keep one in style? I mean I want all the other Bearded Dragons to be jealous...
{Sorry Guys if there was a misunderstanding! I really meant for people to know I was kidding that I though everyone hated Bearded Dragons!}

uhhh, i was just giving you my opinion, not trying to "talk you out of getting a beardy". You asked for personal opinions of the best and worst qualities. I really couldn't think of anything bad about them other than the smell besides that they are great animals, i hope you have a great life with yours. Please don't take it like I was trying to talk you out of getting a beardy. If anything, i was giving good information that made the idea of having such a unique animal an irresistable temptation.
sorry for the misunderstanding.

Oops! I guess I didn't make myself clear. I was basically saying that if their poo was the worst thing anyone could come up with as a bad thing then they must have a lot of good things going for them. The "so everyone hates Bearded Dragons!" was meant tongue-in-cheek and not that I thought anyone really hated them. In fact you guys pretty much convinced me that a Bearded Dragon would make a great pet. That is why I asked about an ideal enclosure and not just the smallest space possible. I want to have a fantastic space all ready before I bring one home. Not to mention all the research I still have to do! Also I forgot that LOL is not used on this site. It means "laugh out loud" and I used it to show I was kidding. Of course if no one knows what I mean then it's not too effective. My Bad! Sorry!

LOL
No worries Hyde, I got you right away.. I think your sense of humour is closer to the British, Americans don't get sarcasm and irony *Ducks from Rich and Dom and .... * Glad you decided to get a Bearded Dragon, they are beautiful pets. Have you checked out our care sheet located in the care sheets forum in the tool bar at the top? If you want all the other Bearded Dragons to be jealous the world is your oyster.. when the Bearded Dragon is an adult you can use sand as substrate for a very natural feel,. use rocks and cactus (fake or real), plants (we use fake as some plants can be poisonous), climbing branches, naturalistic commercial furniture.. anything you want to decorate the tank! You'll have a slice of the outback in your own living room! ![]()

Boy with a title like that I bet you were ducking everytime you open the posts!

I too clearly got your message and yes for my money the smelly poop is the only drawback and it isn't that bad if you keep the enclosure clean. But as you said all poop smells, just some more than others. Some people have a problem with dealing with live crickets but you are going to have those with virtually any lizard. I heartily recommend Bearded Dragons as a first lizard. Or a second, third, fourth.....! They are very hardy and don't really require a lot but what little they do require is specific. A 40 gallon tank will house one adult very nicely. The basics are UVB light and heat. You can decorate it to the limits of your pocketbook! Quote:

I think my house must actually be located on a misplaced bit of British soil! Sarcasm and irony run rampant here, and we definitely appreciate and understand it...heehee. My 11 year old son has one of the best sarcastic, ironic senses of humor that I've ever encountered. (His 14 year old sister, however, is still working on developing hers. She better do it quick or go crazy because all the rest of us use it regularly. ) I do know a lot of Americans who don't get it though, so even though I know you're teasing, there's some truth to what you said, Bitis! ![]() Quote:

Hyde we would never detour you from Bearded Dragons. They are so personalble and fun to have. Make sure when you pick yours out, it is healthy looking (not skinny), bright wide eyes and full of energy. You know we are here if you need us, just ask away.
