Re: Adopted Beardie, NEED HELP ASAP
Definitely get it to a vet, have them do blood work to determine what it is deficient in. I don't recommend using baby food, some have a high salt content in them. The cat food needs to stop too. Bearded Dragons are omnivores, they eat veggies and bugs. You can get some collards, mustard greens, and turnip greens and put them in a blender to get it to a fine mush, as for insects young crickets, meal worms that have shedded they will be soft for a day or so, wax worms.
As for the leg, I couldn't tell with out some pics, but the vet can determine what treatment will be needed.
Here is a website that will help with the set up and care. Good luck.

Re: Adopted Beardie, NEED HELP ASAP
We have used baby food, we mixed it with calcium. We used organic, without the sodium content and used veal for the protein content. It really helped a lot with the baby we rehabbed, as he needed the extra fluids we used to make a slurry of the baby food and calcium. Ours was not able to catch any food of his own at the time. We also fed some silkworms. We also used organic vegetable baby food. The vet is a visit you really need to make. They can help you a lot. I am concerned about the leg. Your Bearded Dragon may be undersized due to the mishandling. Your Bearded Dragon may also need antibiotics still, and perhaps a parasite treatment. The biggest thing is to get his possible dehydration under control, and get him stronger. Make that vet appointment, your vet may want you to feed differently. I have found not all veterinarians agree, but most have a standard sheet of what they want fed.

What's his name?

I think we're goin to name him Gimpazouras Rex because he came so us with a peg leg and some toes missing!
GOOD NEWS. He pooped in his cage today! This means his digestive track is working!! Well maybe lol. Gave him another warm bath today and he ate twice seems like he enjoyed the bath, but I still have to force the food on him a little bit. I took some pictures with my phone.
The above picture is just a picture of him on my table, grabbed a ketchup packet and put it next to him so you guys can get an idea of his current size. If you take a look this is a good shot of his front right leg. It's swollen, stiff, and he doesn't use it. I am wondering if he recovers whether or not he will be able to keep his leg.
This is a close up of him in my hand while I am feeding him. You can see we got a little bit of left overs on his nose. That's alright though I got it off of there when I gave him a warm bath afterwards. Take a close look at his front left foot. Missing a toe and a little bit swollen =/
Here he is again, this time chilling in his warm bath. I usually let him soak for about 10 minutes or so before taking him out. Once again you can see here that he let's his front right leg limp and does not use it.
Now I know a lot of you have the first response of "well you better get him to a reptile vet asap". Well I'm a college student lacking the funds to do that and that is why I am posting here. It's unfortunate that I can't afford a vet, but you can send a letter to your man President Bush and have a talk about ruining America's economy if you want someone to blame for that. I do believe that the care I will be giving will be much better then him being locked away in the back room at petsmart, and the employee I talked to there seemed to have the same opinion.
Thank you all very much for any advice you have given so far =D anything minus the "find a reptile vet" has been taken into consideration and I really appreciate it.

Re: Adopted Beardie, NEED HELP ASAP
Those legs look pretty bad. I know you REALLY don't want to hear this, but you NEED to get him to a vet. Try calling and explaining the situation, they may be willing to work on a payment plan with ya. If not then you might need to start considering taking him to a shelter and surrendering him. One of the biggest responsibilities of pet ownership is having to provide medical care when needed.

Re: Adopted Beardie, NEED HELP ASAP
One thing I do know is that local rescues have volunteer nurses that you can go to or they have county vets. Those are a lot cheaper and if u have an SPCA they can help you with getting the treatment you need for him. They shouldn't cost, or cost more then $30 to get an opinion. Also a fecal isn't expensive. I am in almost the same financial situation and these are what I use. They are inexpensive and are willing to help. Also, make sure his heat is about 90 in his hot side. UVB, also taking him outside, the natural sun does wonders on healing pets. Also, you can get bearded dragon bites, mash them up in to a gelatin, add extra calcium, add a little water, mash some crickets in it, and feed him it's healthy and those bites have lots of nutrients. Baby food is good just try and remember a normal baby eats up to about 20 pin heads a day and picks at veggies. When they're babies they are mostly meat eaters. I am a full time student, a brain tumor patient (no insurance), married, and my car was stolen. I have no job because I can't work and my husband may lose his, luckily we have a wonderful community that loves animals and my parents are a big help. The SPCA and the community vet at the shelter are a big help. They will help you or they can tell you were to go. I am the local reptile expert and everyone in my community always help me help the reptiles we find. Things are hard, but there are ways and that's my point. Good luck with your baby and keep loving it because if it doesn't make it, you can at least tell yourself you tried.

Do you know a web-site I can go to and look up my local rescue center? I've only been in my new town for about 2 months now, moved here for school. I hope that your husband doesn't lose his job, I really hope the economy starts to pick up again. If the oil companies stop digging into our pockets maybe it will =D.
What does SPCA stand for?
