Going to Get a Beardie Soon.

Im going to add a Bearded Dragon to my collection of reptiles. Any hints or pointers so that he is really tame and people friendly, starting out at a young age. I have never owned one or had experience with them.

Definitely read the care sheet. Especially since you've never had any experience with them. Make sure you can provide proper care for them.

Good luck!

Re: Going to Get a Beardie Soon.

I second that. read the care sheet and make sure you know what you're getting yourself into. although this is considered a medium size lizard, they do need a fairly large enclosure. make sure you have the room to house one before buying one. you should also take into account where you get it from. because all bearded dragons sold in the united states are captive bred, there are very few bloodlines. make sure if you decide to get a colorful morph, that the animal is not inbred. Inbred bearded dragons tend to have a plethora of health problems including short life and temperament issues. A great breeder is Sundial Reptile. Loren makes sure that all his Bearded Dragons are from different bloodlines, and none are crossed. Good Luck!
