How to grow a Bearded Dragon tree :P

How to grow your very own bearded dragon tree

Steps:
1. get some peat moss
2. moisten it so it will barely clump together
3. bury some shed skin from a bearded dragon
4. keep soil moist and warm
5. have patience

For a while it will seem like nothing is happening, then over time you will see a scaly stalk starting to grow from the ground. as the stalk grows, it will form a bulb under it. by the time the stalk is 3-5 inches in length, the bulb will be 4-6 inches long. if you wish, you can gently remove the soil surrounding the stalk and remove the bulb, but be sure to leave the stalk intact. once removed, your bearded dragon tree will consume crickets and need a dry desert habitat.

here is how it will look as its growing:

That's great! lol When I first saw the thread title, I was going to edit it because I thought it was an error. Then I read the thread and realised what you meant. Thats pretty good. I may grow me a bearded dragon or 2.

Was this a hatching dragon egg or did your dragon just decide to dig itself below ground? If this is just your dragon digging, how has this substrate worked for you? Any issues or concerns with impactions yet?

Re: How to grow a Bearded Dragon tree :P

It's a female in a nesting box. We are quite positive that she's gravid. The first time we put her in there (yesterday) she dug a bit then started walking around trying to get out. We put her back in there again more than an hour ago and she's been diging ever since.

She has become quite plump and lumpy over the past few days and has been digging everywhere in her normal enclosure while her mate has been puffing his throat out at anything that moves near the cage.

Its probably best to keep her in her own tank at all times until she lays. The male will only stress her out. What is that you are using? Is it hard and packed enough for her to dig an actual hole and it not collapse until she lays her eggs and covers them up?

Re: How to grow a Bearded Dragon tree :P

about half an hour ago she climbed out of the hole, filled it in, and is now looking skinny. looking in the corner of the container from the outside (its a clear storage bin) i can see some eggs, looks like 5.

both the male and female are only 8 or 9 months old.
so wondering if they are even fertile.

and the darn incubator hasn't even arrived yet.

I hope they arnt fertile and they didnt breed. That is way to young. They can stay there for about 24 hrs if kept warm.

Re: How to grow a Bearded Dragon tree :P

why do you hope they aren't fertile?

anyway:

there were 13 total, 11 had a red vain and spot.
the 2 that had nothing went to the snakes.
