My hot rod is normally a light gray with some white.I noticed today that he has gotten a real dark gray color.Is this normal for a bearded dragon to change like this.He is i'm guessing around 10 months old.Does the color changing happen at times?

They can change color due to temperature, disposition, a move to new surroundings, even when initially handled.

Kenman,should I not be worried about the color change then?His basking spot stay's at around 95 degree.His enclosure temp stay's in the lower 80's and at nights drop down to mid to upper 70's.I handle him every day,and his surroundings are the same.I do think you are right about the temps.I gave him a bath tonight and his color did go back to normal.Could it be maybe he is getting to hot?Our house stay's in the high 70's I cant even stand it.Hopefully when his bigger enclosure is built I can maintain better temps.Is it ok to turn off his heat lamp at night?I keep his and my iguana's on all the time.Should I not do that?

Basking temps should actually be about 100-105. You need to turn the lights off at night. They require a cooling down period and that is when they do it. The color change is totally normal.

If the heat lamps produce light you should NOT keep them on 24/7. If it is just a Ceramic Heat Emitter or other heat producing fixture that does not produce light then I would suggest keeping it on. I would say that your temps over all could probably go up some.
What kind of set up do you have? tank set up? lights ect... UVB?!?!

Generally speaking a darkening of color is indicative of being too cool. They darken to soak up more heat and lighten to reflect it. Think how much warmer it is wearing a black shirt in the sun as opposed to a white one. These animals are native to a hot arid region of Australia. When you gave him a warm bath he warmed up and so his color lightened.
