Bearded Dragons kept outside
Has anyone kept his or her Bearded Dragons outside in the summer? Last year I made an outside Iggy cage and the iggy was adopted, I was wondering if I could adapt that cage and turn it into a Bearded Dragon cage or divide it into two cages. I think it is 6’ tall, x 2’ deep x 3’ wide. Your thoughts on this please.

Absolpositivelyosol. It would help if you post a pic so we can give ideas on how best to convert it. Since it doesn't have much floor space as it is now.

The cage is similar to the PVC knock down cage we have on HC. The sides are made out of nylon netting that is used for hockey nets. I was just thinking on turning it on its side and adding a piece of netting in the middle. There is a picture somewhere here on HC I just need to find it.

Sounds like that would work. Make sure it's anchored to the ground so that he can't get under it.

Just keep in mind what the climate is like... I know here in MD it's too humid and I don't think it gets hot enough, hopefully its better up your way.

2 things come to mind.
1 Overhead protection from birds etc. 2. The possibility of them eating something toxic. Fireflies for instance are extremely toxic to them. I was reading that a single ingestion of one firefly was enough to give an adult Bearded Dragon a heart attack. Apparently they have nothing instinctual to warn them of this and we all know what happens when a Bearded Dragon sees a crawling bug.
