I made that mistake once, when I first got boas over 5 years ago, I had a beautiful male redtail & ordered a female redtail from a well known online company that sells reptiles & supplies(I will never buy anything from them again!) but I only quarantined her for about 3 months, no signs of any problems(other than she had RI when I got her!)(I also called the company I bought her from to let them know they sold me a sick snake and they wouldn't do anything & didn't care), but not long after I put them together, she got RI again, I took her to my vet she got better & was doing fine, then a couple of months later, she started refusing to eat, then got RI again, took her back to vet and through a long battle she ended up dieing-I had a necropsy(vet recommended it) done on her and found she had inclusion body disease! A few months later my male redtail got bad case of RI & then died of inclusion body disease too, no other snakes were ever exposed and have had no further incidents with inclusion body disease, but that was one bad blow, I was very upset and destrought! (well about the female, I contacted the company I bought her from again, to let them know she died less than a year after buying her, and that she had inclusion body disease, they didn't care! and wouldn't compensate for any bills or loss of snake) so I refuse to buy any supplies from them ever again! BTW I had the male redtail for almost 2 years before all this happened! And never had any problems out of him at all! I am so thoroughly disgusted with that online store! So I ALWAYS quarantine my animals now, and I use that anti-microbial/bacterial hand sanitizer in-between messing with any different animals, just to be safe! I use 2 seperate cleaners when cleaning their cages too, 3 if changing cages to new size that other animals used to be in! I say can't be too careful! BTW I wasn't sure if it is appropriate to say the name of te company on here or not, but if it is, I will let you know who did this! (I had read that 3 months should have been a sufficent tiime for quarantine, but have since learned its not! Minimum quarantine time of 6 months or more now at my house! sorry for venting, but even tho this happend a few years ago, I am still upset! Marine

And its very hard to determine they have without very expensive blood tests, and thats only if your vet will do the blood test too(I think the blood test thing is fairly new tho) theres a few warning signs, if they appear, star gazing, seizures, lethargy, fasting, lying on back or sides, RI(respiratory Infection), stomatitis (mouth rot), sudden loss of body weight, thats all I can remember off the top of my head right now. But its really horrible! Marine
