Feeding problem

i have a baby bearded dragon, he is about 4-5 months old.
when I first got him, whenever I put a cricket in he would run after it until he ate it but now he doesnt make a effort, he doesnt even eat them.

i have him in a 4 foot reptile cabinet.
he has both basking lamps and UV fluresent.
The thermostat is in the middle of the cage and is set a 32 degrees C.

Does anyone no what to do so he will go after the crickits and eat them again?

Thanks

Hello,

Unless you changed your light since the last time you posted on HC, your dragon isn't getting UV. That would certainly effect his appetite.

I agree with Rich. When did you change it last. Do you have your basking light I the middle of the tank? It should be at one end or the other. Can you give us specifics on your husbandry.

Just to piggy back on what Rich and Marsha said...you didnt specify what kind of UV light you are using, it should be a UVA/UVB tube with about 8% UV emission which you should change every six months, lack of proper UV will also effect his appitite

feeding problem

My basking lights are at one side of the cage.

I have a ReptiGlo 5.0 and I brought it about 2 months ago.

What is a reptile cabinet? Do you have a pic of yours?
I really recommend buying a reptisun 10.0 or atleast a 8.0. Both are great bulbs and put out more uvb.

Do you offer greens to your Bearded Dragon?? And like the others said...what are the temps?? If they are too cool they will not eat. How much do you feed??. Also have you had a well check at the vets?? Maybe a fecal sample should be taken...parasites will stop hunger also. Good luck...Lyn

Ok...I'm gonna give you my 2 cents.

He's a little guy.....the cage, although beautiful, may be too big for him....this can cause your guy stress (stress can lead to a whole host of problems). Also I see it looks like you are using a particulate substrate....is it sand? Babies, In my opinion and many others, should not be kept on particle type substrate due to risk of impactions, especially if you are feeding them in their tanks. When was the last time he went poo?

sand is bad, so is too big of a tank. Not eating is the very first warning sign that your cage is too big.
