greens
my Bearded Dragon does not eat much greens any more. I have had her since ocotber. For a while she was good about eating them. lately she hasnt been. I put a mixture of collard greens and someother food that is normally different each day. She only eats about 1/5 of the "salad" and manages to spread the rest all around her 4 ft long cage. any ideas why she does this?
Thanks

Has anything changed Bill. Has her enclosure been changed in anyway? What are the temps. Do you feed the veggies in the morning or evening? And what are you feeding her as her salad mix?

i switched her into a new tank back in january. The inside of her enclosure hasnt been changed since then. The warm side is in the 90's basking is about 110 and cool side is about 78. I put the veggies in in the morning before I go to school and leave them in there all day. I have noticed that when she eats the veegies it is always in the morning before I feed her any crickets. I always put collard greens in her salad and mix in other food randomly. The other food is cantalope(i only put this in 1 time a week at most because I know its not that great for them) or bell peppers (again I know its not the best food) or blueberries, or mango and ive tried carrots and figs . I saw on one website that squash is good for Bearded Dragons. How do you prepare it for them. Do you have to cook it or do you just cut it up and feed it as is. Any other suggestions on new foods?
jrobinson-i answered your first question above, she eats crickets great, its just veggies she doesnt like too much
Thanks

Shredded butter squash is best. Here is another food list that is good to go by.

I read somewhere that sometimes cutting the greens into strips helps get them to eat. I also was told that they love dandelion leaves. I also heard of one person who wiggles the greens so they act like prey and their dragon pounces! I have no actual experiance yet so this is just what I have read. If you try any of these let me know how it worked!

Try to steer clear of to many carrots, they provide to much Vit A. Mine tend to like cilantro, parsley, yellow squash and occasional kale. You might have to play with different foods to see what they like.
I sure wish you had a pic, I would love to see her again.

With any type of squash, just shred it raw. I do tear the leaves of Dax's greens into little bits because he's still so small. I also have tried wiggling a little piece of his grrens right in front of his face with tweezers, and he snatches it right up. There's really no reason I have to do this because he will walk over to his salad plate and eat plenty, I just like to watch him!

I like to feed mine collard greens with shredded butternut squash and yam added in, occasionally I'll put in strawberries as a treat.
