OVER FEEDING BD's? is it possible?
my baby bearded dragon eats roughly 100 1/4" crickets a day along with veggies and phoenix worms. I know about the D3 toxicity if given in excessive amounts so I tend to only dust the crickets.
Any opinions/advice would be great. Thanks |

Quote:
Baby Bearded Dragons are gluttons. I was feeding my hatchlings their crickets 2 times a day. Once in the AM and once in the PM. I would start tossing in crickets and they would have 10 minutes to eat their fill. Once the 10 minutes were up, I removed the uneaten and thats what they got for insects for the day. Their salad was available all day however. Using this method, you would likely cut down on how many she is eating per day. It won't hinder her growth but it will help regulate the rate in which she grows. The more animal protein she eats, the faster she will grow. Since the babies are gluttons, limiting their consumption is similar to limiting the consumption of food that a human child intakes. It is weight control. Since the salad contains almost no fat, and is full of nutrients, they can supplement themselves with that all day if they get hungry. ![]() |

I agree with Rich. Then once they get to be adults, you can cut back to veggies in the am and protein in the pm.
