Yea,,,keep her away from your male
...Honestly I dont believe there is a way since she has already been breed. Best thing to do is check with your vet.

Hello,
Keep her and the male seperated. Many, if not all reptiles have the ability to retain sperm from previous encounters. Once she has exhausted her "supply", she should no longer lay eggs. |

i know this thread is old but just wanted to answer RBL's question.
Room temprature is too cold to incubate dragon eggs. even going down to the high 70's (78, 79) is a huge risk to the life in the egg. |

As the others said, if you breed her with your male she will lay eggs, and they are capable of retaining sperm. However, even without being mated females will sometimes still lay eggs - our rescue dragon, Rocky, laid several clutches of eggs when we first got her, and had never been with a male, seemingly due to the change in environment where she perhaps thought the conditions were now right for her to reproduce.
One of our younger female dragons has also laid 4 clutches of eggs this year, before even seeing a male. She probably did this because she felt she was mature enough to breed and wanted to reproduce, but two of our females have never laid eggs, despite one of them having lived with a male all her life! It just depends on the individual dragon. If she is going to lay eggs it is often better to have them fertilized, as they are easier to lay, but remember how much this all takes from her calcium resources. You can try changing her environmental factors by altering the temperature and decreasing the daylight time to make her think it's winter, and then putting them back up again, however, this can have the opposite effect and encourage her to lay more eggs once the temps and light go back up. Make sure you feed her plenty and give her baths/always provide water to prevent dehydration. Also make sure she gets lots of calcium and try her with things like pinky mice to increase the calcium intake. 3/4 clutches is generally the year average, though they can lay more, but she should be coming to the end of this year's reproduction shortly, unless she is one of those rarer specimens who will continue to lay eggs! I would like to point out though, if she has any eggs that are fertile it is best to incubate them, as by leaving them you are in effect killing them, and there is always the small chance of them actually surviving and hatching if you are just throwing them away in the bin, especially at this time of year when the temps are higher. This is a very slim chance, but you must think of the risks you are taking, and think about not placing her back with the male again later in the year or next year if you cannot look after the fertile eggs. Rick - in answer to your question, eggs can be incubated at room temp, depending on what the temp is ofcourse. At this time of year you most certainly could, although temps could in fact get too high. Bearded Dragon eggs are best incubated between 82-86F.

Thanks for that. Solar laid her 6th clutch about a month ago and I can't feel any more eggs - although she is still "nicely rounded"! All the last clutch were infertile except one - yes, we're incubating it as I would have had nightmares about them hatching out in warm dustbins.
Nice to see a reply from someone in England. I was beginning to think we were alone over here! |
