Urgent Egg Help Please!!
I have 2 Bearded Dragons; a male and a female. The female laid eggs two days ago and I have a slight problem. I believe the eggs are fertile as 1) They are not yellow but white and 2) I can see a vein on each egg and was told that means there is an embryo. My problem is the eggs are starting to wrinkle, and badly. I have been told that they are not too far gone yet as they are not yellow, but I need to know if there is any way to be successful with these eggs. They are not in an incubator. Is there anything I can do. Please answer as soon as possible, I am hoping to have a chance with these.
Thanks in advance

Re: Urgent Egg Help Please!!
You can also make an incubator from a 10 gallon tank:
A Simple Incubator Design - Reptile Information - Caresheets Database
From the caresheet:
The eggs require incubation in either a commercially bought incubator or a home-made device. Many products on the market are successful for the hatching of reptile eggs; however a polystyrene box, heat mat or pad and a thermostat make an ideal incubating apparatus. It is a good idea to set up the incubator several days before the female is due to lay her eggs to ensure that all affecting aspects are satisfactory. The eggs must first be taken out of the egg-laying box, with care not to turn or move them out of their original position for risk of drowning the embryo or tearing the yolk stem, and should be transferred to a box filled with moist substrate such as vermiculite or Perlite. Indentations in the incubation substrate should be made to place the eggs in to, and the eggs should be checked on every few days to ensure fertility, to allow for fresh air-flow and to check for signs of dimpling or collapsing of the egg, which is indicative of too low humidity. Unless the eggs are due to hatch, in which case they will begin to collapse, dimpling of the egg is often resolved by increasing the humidity, which will usually save an egg from drying up. It is not uncommon, however, for a dragon's first clutch to be completely infertile. Incubation temperatures can be set at 82-86 Fahrenheit and high humidity should be maintained between 70-90%. Too high temperatures will "cook" the eggs, while too low temperatures will prolong hatching. Incubation period can be anything from 42-84 days, or six to twelve weeks. After the initial hatching has occurred the rest of the eggs will usually follow within a few days. The hatchlings should be left in the incubator until they have absorbed the yolk and the sac has dropped, which can take up to 24 hours after completely emerging from the egg.

Re: Urgent Egg Help Please!!
Here['s a pic of my homemade incubator.
1 styrophome cooler ( holes in the top for ventilation)
1 underwater heater ( old one I had from my fish keeping days)
1 grill to keep the eggs suspended over the water
1 dish with small holes in the bottom for drainage ( used an old dish from a microwave dinner)
vermerculite
dollar store thermostat for temp control
All the eggs in the pic hatched, there are two clutches.
hope this helps

Re: Urgent Egg Help Please!!
I have ordered an incubator as unfortunately there is nowhere out here I can buy one. I waish I knew she was getting ready to lay eggs as I could have had everything ready but sadly I didn't. Do theses eggs still have a chance or are they done for. They are still white but shrinking real bad. I read that taht means low humidity so I am trying to bring the humidity up until I can get the incubator in but I don't know if they can last or are already gone. At least I will have the incubator ready tho if she lays a second clutch, which I really hope she does.

Re: Urgent Egg Help Please!!
Sorry, I don't know if it's too late. But if you don't try you'll never know, but I think that as they have to endure whatever the real world throws at them they might be OK after a few bad days. find out what incubation temps you need and try to keep them warm and humid. You can try candling them to see if they are still alive but it might be to soon. My water dragon eggs had the red vein and it moved but I can't remember how old they were when I did this.
Good luck and keep us posted

Re: Urgent Egg Help Please!!
I certainly will. I am not giving up til I know they are done. They are still white so that is a good thing. I can't makeshift an incubator as I already spent money on the one I am waiting for. I did put them in a good size container with some stuff for the bottom and water and put a bag with some holes in it for the top. That is bringing the humidity up so I am hoping this will keep them until my incubator arrives. If not, at least I will be prepared for the next time, but hopefully these ones will work out.
