Have a Breeding Question for You
Hello Everyone,
Today I put lizzy and Ka together to try to breed them. Well they have been together for about 3 hours and KA seems to be interested. His beard is all black and he's bobbing his head, but he has found a spot and stayed there and is not doing much else except that. Lizzy is jumping around the cage and and bobbing her head at him but wont hold still for him to even decided to try and mount her. I'm thinking I might pull one of them out and try again but I'm not to sure if he's fired up enough. This is there first season there about 2 yrs old. could they be stressed? thank you for your inputs sincerely, Ashley |

Re: Have a Breeding Question for You
Most likely stressed. You need to separate them for awhile.

Re: Have a Breeding Question for You
Okay, I'm going to put them back in their tanks for today let them calm down.I am wondering though for the first time I put them in a neutral territory, type via storage bin. Next time should I put her into his cage? It almost seems like she's trying to dominate him. I know that lizzy is a girl because she laid eggs and I know he's a boy because, well it's pretty obvious. Oh well, will try again later. Right now I'm more concerned about them getting to stressed. Thanks for your input.

Re: Have a Breeding Question for You
I personally think I would have quarantined the new one for at least 30 days prior to trying to introduce the two.
I don't think you want to put her in his tank because then you could have problems with him stressing her out. Neutral territory is probably best...

Re: Have a Breeding Question for You
Oh, I forgot to mention he has been in quarantine for a while, so thats good I even took him to the vet to get checked out for worms and stuff just to be sure and he has a clean bill of health. I'll keep trying with the neutral territory. I have read a lot and researched a bunch of info, but I just wanted to make sure what I read was true. thank you for your advice.

Re: Have a Breeding Question for You
according to one of your other posts you just got him on 6/11 or there abouts. That would be less than a week in quarantine... ????

Re: Have a Breeding Question for You
It was about a week or so I took him to the vet and had the vet check him which took for ever for some reason, and the vet said to hold him for a week because he was nice and healthy. it was a few days I think before I posted not to sure. Was that a mistake on my part, Ive been going to this vet for years and hes a herp vet obviously lol. Ill definitely remember about that quarantine though thats for sure. It seems that Ka is lazy though lol.

Re: Have a Breeding Question for You
Your quarantine period should be approx 60 days, 30 days at the bare minimum.
A week is way too short.
