"Double-clutching" and Sperm Storing?

Hi, I posted about a month ago about the rescue Bearded Dragons I took in and a female who laid eggs on the 11th of February. I made a little homemade incubator and so far, 15 of the 16 eggs still look good.

Well, today (March 9) she just laid another clutch of eggs. This time she laid 22! However, I adopted out the male on February 10th (the day before she laid her first clutch) and she hasn't been with any males since. So basically, my question is, did she become pregnant with her second clutch while she already had developing first clutch eggs inside her? Or did she just store sperm for awhile? Or... is there something else I may be missing? Perhaps these are infertile... but is it normal for them to lay them so soon after a first clutch?

I really don't want her laying any more eggs as she was malnourished to begin with... is it likely that she may lay again? I've been supplementing her greens and live food with calcium every other day because I know this has to be draining on her.

Any advice/insight would be greatly appreciated!

Have you read the caresheet?
Breeding Bearded Dragons (Pogona vitticeps) - Reptile Forums - The HC Network

I personally don't know anything about breeding because it is a practice I don't believe in, there are too many unwanted animals out there already.

Some females can lay as many as 3-4 clutches from 1 breeding. There is nothing you can do to stop it. Some will only lay 1 clutch. Just continue her food and calcium intake and she should be fine.

Venus is right there is nothing you can do to stop it. just make sure she is healthy, hydrated and happy while she is full of eggs.... feed her lots of veggies and calcium like you have been... female bearded dragons may also become egg bound without ever meeting a male! (the eggs will not contain a baby as they were not fertilized) warm baths a few days a week will really help her, especially if she is having troubles laying the eggs....

Re: "Double-clutching" and Sperm Storing?

Thanks everyone for the replies. She was able to lay the eggs without any problems but I just worry about her because after I rescued her and the group of Bearded Dragons, my first priority was treating their illnesses and then getting them to a healthy weight. However, with her, I feared all the nutrients were going straight to the developing eggs rather than to her own benefit. She has a great appetite and loves her warm water soaks - it always helps her to relieve herself. I just hope she won't be laying any more eggs!

Re: "Double-clutching" and Sperm Storing?

Well, this girl has laid ANOTHER clutch of eggs... 19 this time. They were laid yesterday. Also, her first clutch has begun hatching this evening - so far there are about 7 eggs that have collapsed and two of them have heads poking out of them. I REALLY hope she is done with the egg-laying now!

Holy Bearded Dragon explosion! Amazing that she could produce so many eggs with her poor health, what a trooper. Good luck!

Re: "Double-clutching" and Sperm Storing?

Our female Bearded Dragon hasnt laid eggs in 2 1/2 years and she laid 25 the other day. She hasnt been with a male but I have the eggs in an incubator but I dont know if they will be fertile. The eggs looked really good that is why I kept them. Our other female laid eggs and they were terrible looking and we threw them out.
