Female bred last night!!
My male and female breed last night after several attempts on his side. She acted with bobbing and scooting her rear around. But if he latched on she would run around and then when he let go ~ she would go back and bob at him. I took the male out and called it a night. Something made me try it again about an hour after and he grabbed her right away and did his thing ~ the actual thing only lasted about 20 sec. Is this normal and do you think it was enough to do the job?
I weighed her today and she gained 2g ~ probably just the lettuce and crickets. My other question was I bought vermiculite at home depot. The brand is sta-green and was the only one they carried. Is this the right one and how should I prepare it when she is ready to lay? ( with or without soil mixed in) One last question! I have a hovabator with no instructions ~ Any sites or info on how to set it up would be Very helpful Thanks Desiree |

Congrats on the breeding...but I do have a question. Did you say you feed her lettuce?? It has no nutritional value for her. She should be eating collard greens, mustard greens, chicory and other greens like that.....not lettuce....good luck...hope you get a lot of babies.....

Listed below is the info for setting up an egg laying box etc. 20 sec is plenty of time to do the deed. Hopefully she took. People have different ways of setting up incubators. I just filled mine with vermic and perilite, moisted it till it kinda sticks together, dig a hole and partially cover the egg so half is sticking out of the vermic, mist around the egg, never directly on the egg.
Also listed is a correct list of foods that can/should be fed to your Bearded Dragon ..Breeding Bearded Dragons Suggested Bearded Dragon Diet

I would not mix soil in with it.
In the heat and humidity of an incubator you will soon have a glorious crop of fungus and mold.
