Back scenery is great and it adds life to your tank. You dont have to worry about nose damage with Bearded Dragons, mine are usually standing on their tail trying to get out of the tank, but I have never had any nose damage. When they are little they will constantly run back and forth along the tank.

No you shouldn't worry too much - Bearded Dragons aren't prone to nose-rub as water dragons are.. but a background may help. You might also want to check some other things - what are his temps? Is he trying to get out because he is too warm? How big is his tank? - is he trying to get out because his tank is too small? Or is he stressed because it is too big? Is he lonely, does he need a partner? (although in the wild Bearded Dragons are solitary animals so can do well on their own or in groups).

How long have you had him? and how old is he? - He may just be getting used to his new environment, and he should settle down soon. Or he may just be having an investigative day or two, trying to get out to his new surroundings. In any case I am sure he will settle soon - you'll soon be willing him to move, when he grows to be a lazy, fat Bearded Dragon, basking all day and only moving slightly when a cricket or two wanders past and he decides he fancies havin a taste

You don't have to worry about nose rub with a Bearded Dragon but it is best to use a background of some kind because for some reason Bearded Dragons cannot perceive the glass of the aquarium that is blocking their way and they simply must get to what they are seeing.
