A Little Concerned
I've had Bruce for about a month now(he's a baby) and he was really calm and easy to handle when I got him. For the past few days he really doesn't like to be handled or touched and I noticed he wasn't going after his food as fast as he usually does. He pretty much just sits on his tree under the light most of the time. He is very quick though, if I try picking him up he bolts. I also noticed he is shedding again. Do they prefer just to be left alone during shedding or is he being just plain difficult?

Re: A Little Concerned
They do like to be left alone when shedding, they get kinda cranky. But he is also probably in his rebelious stage, its nothing unusual. Just need to be persistent. What are his temps?

The temp under the light usually reads between 90 and 100. He has a banzai tree under the light with quite a few different branches at different heights so he can get closer or farther from the light as he desires.
I just read on another site that they also may stop eating as much while shedding, so that's reasurring. As far as being rebellious, he needs to calm down so I can change his newspaper.

Re: A Little Concerned
Bump the heat up to between 100-105, this will also help with the appetite.

Re: A Little Concerned
I have one of those fixtures with the dimmer on it, but I always have it turned all the way up. So what should I do, get a higher wattage bulb? I think the one I have is 75w

Re: A Little Concerned
try giving him a warm bath to soothe him while he sheds and if he is being stubborn about being handeled dont give in or he will learn to do this everytime.

Re: A Little Concerned
Those are a low UVB bulb, 3.0 is not suitable for bearded dragons. You need at least the 5.0 for florescent, preferably the ZooMed bulbs.
And if that fixture is one of them that has the plastic sheild over the bulb it needs to be removed.
