Lazy Boy
Well I must say I have the worlds laziest dragon. I just fed him, he ate 8 crickets. He chased down 3. But then he watched the others run away. So I put a cricket on my hand and he ate it when I put my hand close to him. He ate 5 like that.

Re: Lazy Boy
He will get used to that if you continue. Let him eat the 3 and if he doesn't eat anymore take them out for the next feeding.

Re: Lazy Boy
Fitzgerald does the same, it really does annoy me. He'll eat from my hand normally, but just doesn't seem to want to chase down his food. The crickets just run off and hide, and while he will pick them off throughout the day, it's really annoying. I can't wait until he's big enough to start feeding supers, I'm thinking about going to an all worm diet..

Re: Lazy Boy
So it is ok if he only eats 2 or 3 a day. I did not know that he will want to be hand fed all the time if I keep doing it.
Is it ok to leave crickets in his tank? I thought you out crickets in and if he don't eat them all in 15 minutes you take them out.

Re: Lazy Boy
How old is your Bearded Dragon? If he's young he should be getting a bit more than that. I've seen very large amounts of crickets advised, but when Fitzgerald was small he was eating about 30 to 40 a day, in two feedings. Crickets tend to stress out sleeping dragons at night, so it is best to get them out.

Re: Lazy Boy
You don't want to leave the crickets in the tank for long, but if you take them out after 15-20 minutes and the dragon has only eaten 2 or 3, the next time you put them in, he should be more hungry and will go after more. Make sense?

Re: Lazy Boy
You don't want to leave the crickets in the tank with him because if he isn't interested in eating them and the crickets are hungry they can start to nibble on your dragon. You don't want that as it can cause injury and if not treated, infection.

Re: Lazy Boy
Well he is about 2 months old. But I only had him for a week or so. He is just adjusting to the new home. If he only eats 2 or 3 at one feeding he will eat 8 to 12 the next.

Re: Lazy Boy
Just be sure that you aren't feeding him crickets that are too large. They should be the length of the distance between the dragons eyes.

Re: Lazy Boy
Yeah. I am feeding him small to medium size crickets. There has been some a little bigger somewhere around 3/4 inch.
