Color changes can be due to stress or improper husbandry, what is your set up like?

But they can also change colors due to temps. When basking sometimes they tend to darken up, when cooling down they are lighter. When do the color changes take effect...as Lace said,,,,tell us about you set up and temps.

Both are right, Bearded Dragons turn black for many reasons, breeding behavior (not in your case), during basking as black attracks more heat, and also due to stress... Need setup info as others requested...

He/she is in a 4ft long 2ft wide 18inch tall cage I built...the basking temps are 105-115 depending on where he/she is on the branches..ambiant temp is 90-95 and on the cool end it is in the low to mid 80's..night time temp is 75...but after I read what venus said I watched him/her and I did notice that it does get darker when basking and lighter when on the floor of the cage. I just got him 3 days ago,so maybe thats why also...I havent really interacted with him/her yet because im trying to let it settle in.but thank you for your help...they need more people like you at the petstores lol.

oh and I forgot to say that he/she is eating well and I have read that it may stress small Bearded Dragons out when they chase their food around a large cage..but I make sure he/she doesnt have 2 run around alot to get them I try 2 block off half of the cage when its feeding.

I've never heard that it stresses them, but to prevent it, best thing to do is to feed in a seperate enclosure. Like a smaller sterilite.

I would definitely say if you have only had him/her 3 days,,its mostly stress related...just give it some time to adjust.
