Question Compact Fluorescent Light for Ball Python Enclosure?

I was just wondering if it would be safe to use a compact fluorescent light for supplemental lighting on my snakes enclosure. I just want to be sure its safe for her eyes.

They are nocturnal so any old bulb would work for the 12/12 day/night cycle. If you are worried about the eyes just get a low watt one.

I haven't had any problems with the 13 or the 26 watt 2.0 or 5.0. Stay away fróm the 10.0 though. Really any light will work as said, but If you have live plants I would use the 2.0 for them more than the snake.

I was just going to use it as supplemental lighting. Right now I'm using 100w red heat bulb for 24hr heat and a 40w incandescent bulb on the cool side. I was going to use a regular curley bulb for extra light. I also was going to ditch the red heat bulb for a Ceramic Heat Emitter and run a night glo for night light. Do you guys think that would be better? I'm new to snake lighting and heating, thanks for your help.

For simple lighting I would just hit up the hardwear store for a T5 ballast and tube. I would switch out to a Ceramic Heat Emitter you'll find they last much longer.

I actually have a 2.0 tube and fixture sittin around now. I'll switch to the Ceramic Heat Emitter and use a night glo at night to see her on the move.

I don't care for any visible light producing lamp to be on at night.
Just the lights in the room will let you see her.

My room is pitch black at night, I was gonna do the night glo just for a little bit of light. I noticed my Bearded Dragon sleeps way better with the night glo instead of that red heat light.
