Need a Single UVB Light Fixture
Okay I just ordered a Repti-sun 2.0 fluorescent light for my leopard gecko and I need help looking for a fixture to house the bulb. So far at petco and petsmart, I've found combination fixtures that are around $40 to $50 and hold a fluorescent and 2 other bulbs. However, I just need a fixtue that houses just a flourescent bulb especially since I will only be using it temporarily while my leopard gecko recovers it's weight.
Thanks again. |

Re: Need a Single Uvb Light Fixture
Just go to lowes and look for the size of that bulb, Im not sure how big it is. Id guess a T8, but just need the length and the T size(forget the name of it) They should have one for cheap.

Re: Need a Single Uvb Light Fixture
The products that I looked at online at lowes seem to have to be mounted to a ceiling or top of an aquarium but I just need a light fixture for a 15 long gallon aquarium. Do you know of any freestanding fixtures?

Re: Need a Single Uvb Light Fixture
Look near the fixtures that are mounted on the ceileing. Those have to be wired in. You can usually find self contained prewired lights nearby.

Re: Need a Single Uvb Light Fixture
If not, you can wire your own that have to be mounted. It is really easy.
What size of light fixture is it? Ill look and see what I can find for you.

Re: Need a Single Uvb Light Fixture
Ok ive found the size. The actual store will have the fixtures, online sucks lol.
The size you need is 15" (im guessing) T8. If they have the kind that will only mount on the ceiling and have to be hardwired in. You can get around that. Go find a cheap 99 cent extension cord and just the one end off, the end where you plug stuff in. Not the end you plug in the wall. Take the 2 wires and with a knife split them down the middle. Now take each end of the wire and strip the insulation off to expose bare wire. Take the cover off the light fixture and fish the wire through the hole in the back. Now wire one wire to the black and one to the white, you should have wire nuts with the light. Twist on and all should be good. Put the light in and plug in to see if it works
