A simple way to keep everybody safe is to place the lamp outside the cage and build a simple wooden box hood that sits over the cover and the lamp. This keeps the heat in, and the cats away from the heater so they can't knock it off.

Well (he says with a sort of sheepish grin ) the point is now moot, as I have turfed what I had assembled thus far of my enclosure, as I happened to come across a brand new Exo Terra (24w 24h 18d) terrarium that is in need of a new side panel (was broken in the store) for a price I just couldn't resist, $70.00 CDN, that I am going to be doing just as Merlin suggested and putting a new boxed in screen canopy on top of, to increase the height, and hide the light fixtures, while allowing for a bit better ventilation, and extra climbing room for the Anoles.

Nothing like changing plans mid stride eh?
