The Time Has Finally Come.
I think it's finally time to give the little guy a name. And, yes, this is one of those "what should I name him?" threads.
![]() I'm taking suggestions. *hint hint* ![]() Suggestions I've gotten so far that I like: Solid (as in Metal Gear, of course) Matplotlib Numpy Plone Bob and Old Man (because of the yellow spots above his eyes, I think). At the moment, I'm leaning toward Matplotlib. It's fun AND geeky, which is always a good combo. I'll probably also look in a baby name book at some point to see if anything strikes me as really matching his personality.

Re: The Time Has Finally Come.
Any pictures?? It's hard to name something without seeing it. Ooops, just saw the other thread with the pics.
Any names that mean the same as beautiful: "Adonis", "Narcissus", "Stunner", "Knockout" all come to mind when I see the photos of that one. ![]() We tend to go for SciFi character names. I also like names of characters in books, history, places or stones. I can barely pronounce Matplotlib -- not something that easily rolls off the tongue, but hey, it's unique: at least I've never heard of it. From your list, I like Solid, Bob and Old Man. (How about calling him "Solid Bob, the old man")? ![]() PS -- I posted some handling tips in your other thread.

Re: The Time Has Finally Come.
Matplotlib - a plotting library that works with the python programming language!
(Matplotlib / pylab - matlab style python plotting (plots, graphs, charts))NumPy is also part of the python language, though more as support, and Plone is a management system built on Zope, which is written in Python. Of the three Matplotlib is the interesting, and more graphically inclined, which is more my speed. ![]()

Re: The Time Has Finally Come.
Im personaly a fan of names from mythology, Nidhogg (norse) Vasuki, Ananta, (hindu?), Ophion (greek), Mehen, (egyptian) ,Mictlan (aztec), even Quetzalcoatl (Winged Serpent in Aztec) would be fitting for a snake, but thats just me, i think you'll be happy with whatever you name him.

Re: The Time Has Finally Come.
I think I'm going to name this snake Gamut.
10 points for anyone who can guess why. (Hint: I decided on it during a photoshop seminar I was attending today.) I think it's sufficiently geeky without being too far out there. Although I do still really like Matplotlib.
