Picture Update
I haven't posted pics of the "kids" in a while. Since their color changes, they haven't changed all that much: just gotten bigger (especially Lantash)
For those of you who don't know, we have 4 Sorong-type Chondropythons. 3males and one female. They were all sleeping this morning in their typical chondro-poses, so I snapped a few quick shots. Crichton: (our oldest male) ![]() Aeryn: (second oldest male): ![]() Selmak: (the youngest male) ![]() and Lantash (Selmak's sister -- the BIG GIRL) ![]() Thanks for looking! ![]()

Re: Picture Update
Beautiful Andrea. I am still very jealous, lol. The blues are awesome on Crichton.

Re: Picture Update
Thanks!
![]() Marsha, they actually all have strong blues when you get them in good lighting but Crichton has the brightest blues even in lousy lighting! I personally really like the dark green "freckles" on Aeryn which the others don't have. I'm hoping our first successful pairing will be with Aeryn and Lantash, as they have the fewest white spots and I hope to get more of Aeryn's dark freckles in the offspring... but that will have to wait another 1.5-2 years till Lantash is old enough to be bred.

Re: Picture Update
Absolutely stunning Andrea!
I think I like the markings on Crichton best of all!

Re: Picture Update
They're beautiful. I'm incredibly jealous. I want a chondro so badly. But, like Rich, I'd have to move before I can get one.

Re: Picture Update
i'm not a snake keeper, so here's a question. in the pics it looks like they all have X's over their eyes except Crichton, why? Is that just a boa thing? I've never seen snakes with X eyes

Re: Picture Update
Absolutely beautiful! Amazing colors. My daughter and I have been drooling over green tree pythons for years, but haven't yet taken the plunge.

Re: Picture Update
Hi Chelsea
About the cross marks on the eyes: as babies they are yellow with red markings and you can see that the red stripe along the side of the head seems to run horizontally straight through the eyeball. The vertical slit is the pupil. When they get older they change from yellow with red markings to green with blue markings, but the eye pattern seems to mostly stay red: although it fades a bit. (Crichton is the oldest and his have faded more than the others) Since they're all mostly sleeping and I flashed in their faces, the pupils are mostly closed. At night they open up big and round. Here are a few pics to illustrate what I mean: (These are all pics of Aeryn, btw) ![]() ![]() Eyes closed: ![]() Eyes open: ![]() PS -- also these are pythons, not boas. Different types of snakes have different eye markings. ![]() To Rich and Typhanie: chondros like BIG enclosures: they look all fat and lazy during the day, but they go on major wanderings all night: through the branches and on the ground, swimming in the waterbowl and plowing through the plants: but they don't really need a WHOLE HOUSE! ![]() To Lacey: I'll post pics of Monty in the BP forum soon. (It's the green kids' turn to get a bit of the spotlight) ![]() To Barnkat: If you do decide to take the plunge: look for a reputable breeder: there are some great US breeders that have entire family tree (photos and records of generations of their offspring -- pricey, but the quality of the animal and follow up care/info/advice would be worth it.)
