It depends on the individual snake. One of ours, Crichton, has been a sweetie right from the start: never bitten anyone and he's over two years old now. Lantash, the female, is also very docile (except at feeding time) she's also never bitten.
Aeryn, the older male, was a nasty biter but as he gets older he's mellowed out a lot.
They ARE pretty much "look don't touch" for the first year, because their spines and especially their prehensile tails are quite fragile. And because they tend to bite first and ask questions later... (or just bite first, really). At that age, anything that moves is either food or danger, so that tactic usually pays off!

For me, they are "look don't touch" most of the time because Martin doesn't let me take them out unless they need weighing or some other specific need -- and I have to ask. (He's a VERY protective snake-Dad!)
