    Time for another vet visit...

It's time to take Don Iguan to the vet again.

He's not really due another visit for a couple of months, but he's been really docile and... slow... for the last two weeks. Plus, over the weekend, he decided he wasn't going to eat. Granted, he did clean his plate again this morning, and normally I wouldn't worry about a two day fast, but something seems off about his behavior lately. He just seems way too peaceful.

The other thing that concerns me right now is that he seems to be having a little trouble swallowing. No matter how fine I chop his food, it seems like at least once a meal he just stops and opens and closes his mouth for awhile, like he's got something stuck just a little bit in his throat and he can't quite get the food down. He always does, though, and eats the rest of his meal, but this is a new behavior that, frankly, scares the crap out of me. If there is something blocking his throat, I want to know!

So I'm going to schedule a visit this weekend. I might try a new vet this time. I found one a little closer than my normal hour-and-a-half drive. If this one is any good, it'll be a little easier on me. I think I'm also going to take in my Uro, Maize at the same time. He'll just have to have his checkup early.

Do you think vets are sometimes like mechanics?

I mean, I know my car. I know when it's driving funny, and I try to catch the problem early - but inevitably I get the mechanic who regards me as an ignorant girl and lets the problem balloon into something bigger.

It seems to me like that is the case again. I know there is *something* that's wrong with Don Iguan. He's not eating right and he's almost choking on his food when he eats. And he seems, just tired. Not lethargic exactly, just... tired. I don't really know how to describe it. But so far "there's nothing wrong" with Don Iguan.

We'll see how things go from here. If he continues with his general... weirdness... I will find another vet and get a second opinion.

Yeah. I think I'm going to get him to another one as soon as I get paid again. I just can't believe I wasted all that money just to be told he's fine. And now I'm not sure if I should take the Uro in again, too. Although I might wait for him. He seems perfectly healthy right now.

Ugh. I guess if the next one tells me there's nothing wrong, I'll have to wait until a problem obviously manifests itself and then take him back. Or perhaps I really am being a little paranoid. Who knows?
