breeding gaboons
Does anyone have any info on breeding gaboons? My friend and I are going to start. He has a beautiful west african male about alittle over 3 feet in lenght and very fat. I have a red and pink colored female west african. Ill have to wait awhile before she is breeding size. Gaboons are the coolest.
The strike from a gaboon is absolutely amazing. Ive heard they have the fastest strike of any snake. I put a mouse in the cage with the female, she was facing the opposite end of the cage than the mouse. She wasnt even looking at the mouse and in a split second(literally)she swung around backwards and landed a strike on the mouse in the back and held on. The fang size is also amazing(the longest of any snake) I would definetly not want those peircing my skin.

Do you have plans for the babbies ?? It might not be easy selling the offspring, or do you plan on keeping them ?

Can't have them here in Jersey or I'd be interested. They are beautiful animals.

Yeah, I'd be interested too, but no venomous in Cali. Yeah, gabboons have a speedy strike allright. Makes up for their sluggish nature, but compliments their ambush tactics well.

I can't believe I've only just read this thread about my favourite snake!!!
Have you got any pics????? I wanna see!!
Good luck with breeding - and good for you for being responsible to get rid of any babies to specialist places. Are your snakes venomoids? Gaboons certainly do have a fast strike,. an amazing creature! As much as I love them though I think I will just stick with my adopted ones at the zoo - not quite ready for anything venomous. And also I don't think we could afford the licence! - don't you guys need Dangerous Wild Animals licences to keep venomous snakes?

Gaboons are my Favorites too. Those fangs are just amazingly long I can't get over it.
You have GOT to show us some pix.
