BUSTED

went to a new pet store to-day the place has been open for about a month now,i asked for pinkies for my corn,he asked me how big they were and told him about 20 inches.he tells me I should get cricks they are to small for pinkies
i said I thought they only ate mice,he tried to tell me they will eat criks for a year before they eat mice.i left right away and went to the ospca to tell them he may be mistreating the pets in the store and got ahold of my regular pet store and told him.the ospca shut him down right away and found a bunch of dead anamalis in the back, aleast 5 corns 1 red tailed boa that I seen come out of there.this is not his frist time he moved here from the city where he already has a number of charges for the same thing.how does he get more snakes and stuff when he is already up on charges, the man from the ospca said he will do time if he has any thing to do with it and I hope he gets whats coming to him.a couple of my buddy called me a rat,but a snake can`t call the ospca or run away for help so I did and don`t care what they say.i will keep you posted on what happened

Well said, Jay. Listen - your thought process is right, skullman, not your friend's. I'd re-evaluate who you're hanging out with if you've got friends who hold a higher value on not being a rat, rather than doing the right thing. That's some serious misplaced values, and I would not want his(or hers) influencing yours. Good job - you know it, and you don't need your friends or anyone here, for that matter, to validate it.

Ignorance kills

Good call Skullman.
I just had an encounter with a bad petstore myself, just a few minutes ago. All of the reptiles were on cedar chips. The whole place reeked like the "odor absorbing cedar bedding" that was used for leopard gecko's, baby water dragons, corn snakes, an albino green Burmese python, some kind of skinks, and some other types of lizards. I told the guy in charge that cedar chips are poisonous to reptiles. He thanked me for letting him know and he asked me what I'd recommend. I told him that if I owned a pet shop, I'd use indoor outdoor carpet because it is cheap, easy to clean, and most importantly not toxic to the animals. I advised him to take all of the cedar out right away and replace it with newspaper for the time being. He said that he would do that and I told him that I would be back to make sure. And I will be back. This kind of thing is all too common around here. Someone must put an end to the ignorance!

Good job Ssativa! Yeah, good idea to go back and make sure he does it. Too many times have I given advice to pet stores, only to come back later and see no improvement. A lot of the time they'll just agree with what you say to avoid a conflict.

Way to go guys, we've got to watch out for our little friends, because there's too many people who don't care about their animals, they just want a nice profit.
