One of the requested features on HC was that we allow the posting of videos hosted on You Tube. Up until now, that was not an option.

Over the past 2 weeks, I have been working on a script that would allow our users the ability to share You Tube videos with one another, while still allowing the staff the ability to do their jobs and moderate these videos.

The HC Reptile Videos Gallery does both of these functions.

The video gallery allows users the ability to add a link to a video they want others to see on HC. That video is not displayed however until a staff member has personally watched the video and is content the content is safe for HC viewing. Once they approve the video, it begins displaying. If they reject the submission, it will not display.

The new video section is currently in "Beta" development.

I say this because it does not currently include every feature I have in mind, and it doesn't incorporate any of the feature that you will suggest.

It does however function as it should at this stage.

Current Features

• Video Discussion URL

• Page Navigation

The content warning system is to allow users to be weary that the video may contain graphic feeding images, open wounds, etc. If the warning is displayed, and you do not like viewing such content, move on.

If the content warning isn't enabled when the video is uploaded, it will state that it is safe for everyone.

Use the video tags! Those are going to be a quick search feature when that part of the video section is complete. When clicked, the term being clicked will yield other videos that contain that tag.

The video discussion url is located at the top of each video. Simply copy the url and insert it into a thread if you wish to discuss the video. This will become obsolete when I integrate a discussion feature directly into the video gallery itself. I already have beta development of this feature working on my development site.

I have added a few videos to ensure it was all working, and so each category contained a video. I will be adding more content once I get bored.

Links directly to you tube will still be filtered out, though, right?

Yes, direct links to You Tube are still filtered out. That was the primary reason for creating this gallery. You can't link directly to you tube in a thread, but you can link to you tube in the gallery.

Once the video has been approved, you can then link to it on HC in a thread.

If the video contains anything someone might find objectionable, like feeding videos, they don't have to view it as there will be a warning above the video that is displayed.

We may need to include an "Off Topic" section in the video gallery. HC Unleashed allows for off topic discussion. If users want to view and discuss off topic items, perhaps this new location is in order.

I guess I could actually call the section "Unleashed" as a reference for that forum section.

I will need to make a few alterations to the video section so i can limit that video section to those users that have access to HC Unleashed.
