Hello,

In the past we have had issues with members trying to use the Private Message System on the site to advertise their sites. These people would randomly send PM's to users inviting them to their sites. This is against HC Policy and not something we take lightly.

Just recently a coder for vBulletin released a feature I had never thought of adding to HC. After reading the features description, I was thrilled at the simplicity behind it and I had to add it to HC.

This new feature is VERY simple in design. If you receive a Private Message from a user that is advertising their site, harassing you, or simply being downright rude toward you, we want you to report it to us. Our goal is to keep this site clean in all aspects. This includes PM spam and ignorance.

At the top of your private messages, there is now a button that says "Report This Private Message". When you click it, a new page will load asking why you wish to report this message. Simply add your reason, and hit send. The reported message will then appear in an administrative forum allowing us to see the contents of the PM, and who sent it. At this point, we can then block the site, remove the user, and pass that users site addy to our affiliates so they too can block the site. (Your name will NEVER be released when we contact the user letting them know they are no longer a member of our network.)

The HC Network NEVER sends new site notifications using the PM system. If someone attempts to claim we have added a new site to our network, it is not true. "I" would be the one sending any type of notification and it would not come through the sites PM system.

This new feature is yet another weapon in our arsenal to help protect the members of the HC Network from unwanted spam. Together, with this new feature, we can continue to keep the site spam free.
