veiled chameleons
I have 6 leopard geckos and have hatched 11 babies with 7 more eggs to go.This started out as 1 pet for my son and now the whole family is hooked.I am thinking about chameleons but know almost nothing about them except that they are so cute.I would love to get suggestions and advice on where to start,ie:type of chameleons and cage size. Thanks

Veiled chameleons are best to start with in most regard, Panthers a close second. For very young chameleons it's best to start them in a fairly small cage about 4 snout to vent length x 4 snout to vent length x 6 snout to vent length, with a 60 X 60 X 100cm being the minimum for an adult. IMO males are best to start off with as with females you will get eggs even if shes not breed. Veileds temperment can very greatly as with most chameleons, though most can be tamed so that monthy chores aren't a problem. Key points to keep an eye on with any chameleon is good lighting (I recommend HQL lights for heat and UV), Proper air flow, and a controled diet. Overfeeding can shorten the lives of most chameleons.

Daily misting is also required for most Chams. Some species need a misting system that can mist 3 times a day.

I agree that Veileds are one of hte better chams but I would personally say maybe start off with some pygmy chams. they are pretty simple care wise, don't take up a lot of room, don't require specialist lighting and are very very cute
