Finally got bit! |
| This is what our member has to say: HAhaha, all I could do afterwards was laugh about it. I completely deserved it for wanting to wash the dust off of him.... |

snake bites from smaller boas and colubrids are nothing, try getting bitten by an alligator snapping turtle... that was not fun, good thing it was small now that I think about it.

Um... I was nipped by a kingsnake.... But I dont think it counts, as he just barely even got me... My fault of course, I was holding my boa, then set it down and put the poor kindsnake around my shoulders. He smelled the bigger snake and just about had a heart attack.
Anywho, congradulations! I am sure it'll happen to me sometime!

i have yet to be bitten my beardy thus why I recomend to anyone starting out with herps. I have had my beardy long enough to know when he intends to bite me or something, and I honestly don't think he ever will bite me, now my new female, i can imagine her becoming somewhat agressive when she has her first clutch of eggs and then I may get bitten if im not careful. anyone ever had a turtle latch on to them, i had my musk do that to me I went nutz it hurt so much.

females don't get too much more aggresive when they are gravid, and I can tell when my dragons are about to bite too, they're pupils get really small and they open thei rmouths, but I turned around to answer my mom and he latched on. stiches itch on your pinkie.lol

when I was introducing the female into the enclosure I spent the first hour making sure my male didn't bite her, he puffed up to three times his normal size , flared his beard and turned it black, then did exactly what I didn't want him to do, what I found is easiest to get them to stop that agressive behavior is actually tapping the top of his head, it worked a like a charm on him and he calmed down.(i think we're getting a little ot right now though)
Speaking of bites when I caught that speckled kingsnake, he whipped around and latched onto the knuckle of my index finger, and actually broke the skin and left a mark thats still there right now, i find that quite surprising as it wasn't that big of a snake.

Fingers are particulrly vulnerable to bites. They are small enough and the snake can actually get a hold of something. In particular the knuckle area has loose skin where the snake can get a good bite. I have a friend who breeds boas and pythons who makes it a habit whenever he opens an enclosure to present his hand to the snake, fingers together, palm outward. As if telling someone to "stop"! This presents a broad flat surface in case the snake decids to strike. Less likely to get hold of him. With the big guys THAT would not be fun!
