    Evil gecko

We got to hear some really interesting herp stories at my "retirement" party a week ago. My bosses' wife has 3 grown children & she was telling us about their various pets when they were younger. They had an iguana for maybe 10 years. She said the kids loved this pet, but she was the one that got to make the darn lizard its salad! She put the iguana in an outside pen thinking it would be ok. Well, something happened & the kids were devastated. Someone gave them a gecko. She said -"DON'T ever get a gecko!" She said it would scream. My wide-eyed Riley asked - "Screamed? Like how?" She said "That lizard was evil. (Riley's eyes are getting wider) It would laugh like an evil witches' laugh." She told us that it would bite all of them & they were all afraid of it. It was just crazy acting. They finally moved it to the basement because it would wake them up in the night with this scary "laugh". They were terrified of this gecko. They were even afraid to go to the basement after this. She said the gecko was "pure evil". We are all cracking up, but then we are all thinking - "And we want one of these?" We asked what kind of gecko it was, but she didn't know. Believe it or not, the boys still want a gecko. They think maybe this was a tokay. Anyone experience "evil witch gecko laughs"?

    Hello,

I was thinking Tokay. What I do know for certain though is that the gecko being referenced wasn't a Leopard Gecko! lol

Definatley a tokay, only one i can think of thats mean and makes noises like that. My dad was stationed in thailand for 5 years and they called them the F-U lizard because i guess it resembled that sound well...
If you kill a snake because of fear, you're ignorant. If you kill a snake because it has bitten you, you probably deserved to have been bitten in the first place.

I'll agree with it being a Tokay Gecko!

We had one that was an escape artist. He would climb to the top of the wall (12') look down at you and scream. My husband being the macho husband climbed on a chair and grabbed him. But the gecko grabbed hold of his finger first and wouldn't let go. As he is climbing down from the chair with the gecko attached to his finger, he grads the body with the other hand and get the tail. When the tail comes off both my husband and the gecko was surprised. He dropped the gecko and once again the gecko climbs to safety, the top of the ceiling. So now my husband is determined! He goes out in the back porch and gets his thick leather welding gloves and repeats the process. This time when the gecko latched on, he didn't bite thought he glove. He was then put back in his aquarium.

That is crazy I would've been laughing too. I have never had or seen a Tokay Gecko, but now I am interested in them.
