Although my shop is not the best, It isn't the worst either. Most people are knowledgeable about fish and small animals, but we do have to work on what we know about reptiles. It's called *********

All the people there are experts in their area, If they don't know everything you want to know about any animal or item in the store they will give you a reference to either a vet or a breeder that does. I have yet to stump them, and I have had some ODD questions about my birds and snakes.

It is also the only pet shop I know of that has every animal on site seen by a vet inside a 6 month window for as long as they are at the shop.

Tom's Tropicals in Perry Hall, Maryland.

They don't have a huge variety, but I think this is so they don't get over their head. All their reptiles are very healthy. Be warned, its also a taxadermy shop! I know, strange combination.

I know this is an old thread, but I'll add that I have yet to find a good pet store around here. There used to be one near my old office, but it went out of business a few years ago.

The only ones I now have access to are big chains, like Petsmart, or this one called Frank's Pet World - which is AWFUL. I would much rather buy a pet from Petco, than Frank's Pet World. They've moved around several times in the last few years. (They are the ones that had the sign to clean out the dead birds every day.) They import animals that should NEVER be sold by a pet store, they house them badly, and their pets are almost always sick. Usually they have two to three different species living in one little cage at a time. I try to warn people away as much as I can.

I wish we had a decent pet shop here. I haven't really been happy with any of them at all...some are better than others, but still, I don't feel like they're totally on the ball in regard to proper animal care.
